Guidelines

Please read carefully the following guidelines.
The ECToH program will be a mix of types of presentations. We are aiming for an informative and interesting, but also for an interactive program. You are challenged to submit interactive symposia and abstracts.

General guidelines

  • Abstracts and proposals must be written in English.
  • Only abstracts and proposals submitted online through the conference website will be accepted.
  • Presenting authors must be registered in the conference.
  • In order to comply with conflict of interest matters, please state the funding source (company or organisation) that supports your study.

Specific guidelines for symposium proposal
A symposium is a broad concept of many possibilities: with a range from an interactive workshop to 5 oral presentations discussing the same topic. One person is responsible/initiator of the symposium and will search for interesting co-authors. We strongly encourage to already embedding interactivity in the symposium.

  • The proposal title should not exceed 15 words.
  • The symposium proposal should not exceed 1500 words. The individual presentations may be described in max 200 words each.
  • Please mention co-authors.
  • Please upload necessary additional files in pdf or word extension (not ppt).
  • The first deadline for a symposium proposal giving a global description of the symposium and its elements is September 3rd 2010. 
  • Proposals will be evaluated by the scientific committee. The results of such evaluation will be notified to the main author by email before Tuesday 28th September 2010.
  • All authors of accepted proposals will receive an invitation for submitting the final abstract. Deadline for submitting this abstract: Friday 29th October 2010.
  • Authors need to inform and contact the co- authors themselves for the final abstract.

Specific guidelines for oral and poster abstract
We expect to receive many individual abstracts for oral and poster presentation. The Scientific Committee will evaluate these abstracts and the accepted abstracts will be combined into complete sessions. Sessions will then exist of presentations of related, complementary, or a combination of theory/science based and practice abstracts. When possible, we integrate interactive possibilities in these sessions. Although we invite you to already embed or describe interactive possibilities in your abstarct.

  • The abstract title should not exceed 15 words.
  • The abstract text should not exceed 450 words.
  • A scientific based abstract should contain the following structure: Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions, Implementation. This guideline does not include practice based abstracts.
  • Deadline for oral and poster abstract submission: Friday October 29th 2010.
  • Abstracts will be evaluated by the scientific committee. The results of such evaluation will be notified to the main author by email before Tuesday 7th December 2010.

ECL ECToH Young professional award
The Association of European Cancer Leagues has initiated an award for young high potentials in the tobacco control field. The aim of this award is to recognize and support newer careerist professionals that have advanced tobacco control including areas of research, advocacy, policy and practice.
