BIO

Professor Marco Alloisio graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1976. In 1981, he obtained a specialization in General Surgery from the University of Milan, in 1984 a specialization in Oncology from the University of Genoa, and in 1987 a specialization in Thoracic-Pulmonary Surgery from the University of Turin. In 1990, he achieved National Qualification as Chief of Thoracic Surgery.

From 1980 to 1997, he served first as Assistant and then as Deputy in the Divisions of Diagnostic Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Head and Neck Oncology at the National Cancer Institute of Milan under the direction of Professor Umberto Veronesi. Starting in 1993, he worked in the Thoracic Oncology Division of the same Institute, directed by Professor Gianni Ravasi.

From 1998, he was Head of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Section at Humanitas, and from February 2006 to July 2024, he served as Head of the Thoracic and General Surgery Unit.

Since 2008, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SICT), and in the same year, he took on the role of Regional Commissioner for Lombardy of the Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer (LILT).

From 2014: Coordinator of Specialized Surgeries at Humanitas Cancer Center.
From 2015: President of the LILT Association (APS) of Milan and Monza-Brianza.
From 2015: Member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the Umberto Veronesi Foundation (FUV).
From 2016: Member of the Board of Directors of the European School of Oncology (ESO).
From 2017: Full Professor of Thoracic Surgery at Humanitas University.
From 2018: Member of the National Board of Directors of LILT Central Office – Public Entity.
From July 2024: Senior Consultant in Thoracic and General Surgery at Istituto Clinico Humanitas.
From 2025: Member of the Clinical Ethics Committee of the IRCCS Foundation – National Cancer Institute of Milan.

He is also a member of numerous Scientific Societies, including the Italian Society of Oncologic Surgery, the European Society of Surgical Oncology, the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the Italian Society of Thoracic Surgery.

Professor Alloisio has gained extensive surgical experience, initially in general surgery, breast surgery, and head and neck surgery, and later definitively in Thoracic Surgery, with particular focus on surgery of the lung, mediastinum, chest wall, and esophagus.

During his presidency at LILT, he developed key areas such as Primary Prevention, Early Diagnosis, Patient Support, and Oncological Volunteering, in close collaboration with the National Cancer Institute of Milan. He has organized numerous cancer prevention campaigns and is highly active in promoting oncological prevention throughout the community.
