CRISTINA MARTÍNEZ
BIO
Dr. Cristina Martínez is Head of the Cancer Prevention Program at the Catalan Institute of Oncology and the Tobacco Control Unit. She is also an Associate Lecturer at the School of Nursing, University of Barcelona. Since 2019, she has been affiliated with the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she has maintained a long-standing collaboration since completing her studies in Health Policy and her postdoctoral fellowship.
Dr. Martínez is a senior researcher in tobacco control and implementation science. Her main research areas include evaluating tobacco control policies in healthcare services, assessing the impact of smoke-free policies, and measuring the effectiveness of smoking cessation interventions and training programs. She is currently developing and testing tobacco cessation training programs for healthcare professional students, as well as evaluating policy interventions to promote cessation among vulnerable populations (including individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders, particularly cannabis, alcohol, and tobacco users) and promoting smoke-free environments in private settings such as homes.
