Dr Angela Ciobanu is a Technical Officer on Tobacco Control at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, working for over seven years in this position. She is a medical doctor and holds a Master’s degree from the Hebrew University–Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine, as well as a Doctoral degree from the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemițanu” in the Republic of Moldova.

Dr Ciobanu has extensive experience in the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases, having coordinated this work at the WHO Country Office in the Republic of Moldova for over eight years in her position of the national professional officer, and for three years at UNICEF Moldova, where she provided consultancy support in communication for behaviour change and nutrition. She also spent more than a decade working at the National Agency for Public Health.
