Jesper Hellberg obtained a master’s degree in public health from Örebro University in 2012. He has worked in tobacco and nicotine prevention and cessation since 2011 at the Tobacco Cessation Clinic at Örebro University Hospital. With 15 years of clinical experience meeting individuals and supporting them in quitting smoking, snus, nicotine pouches, vaping, and other nicotine products, his primary expertise lies in tobacco and nicotine cessation.
Throughout these years, Jesper has delivered numerous lectures and presentations at Örebro University, conferences, within health care, and other settings both in Örebro and other parts of Sweden. Since 2017, he has served as a board member of the Swedish NGO Public Health Professionals Against Tobacco. In 2024, he became a board member of the NGO TPLR that organizes Sweden’s largest tobacco and nicotine prevention conference, LUFT.
He is also a part of a work group that coordinates a network of tobacco cessation trainers in Sweden. Since beginning his work in cessation, Jesper has trained more than 200 individuals to become tobacco cessation professionals. He regularly supports cessation and prevention initiatives within Örebro County as well as in other regions of Sweden. He has been featured in newspapers and radio, and he has even assisted a TV reporter in quitting nicotine pouches.
When Champix was removed from the market was the tobacco cessation clinic the first in Sweden to bring in Cytisine in 2021 to aid in smoking, snus, nicotine pouch and vape cessation.
With 15 years of hands-on experience, Jesper is now one of the more experienced cessation professionals in Sweden currently working. As early as 2016–2018, when nicotine pouches first entered the market, the clinic began meeting patients seeking help to quit. This early exposure has resulted in an extensive experience in nicotine pouch cessation.
