Dr Martena is the Coordinator of the Tobacco Control team at the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport of the Netherlands since 2018. He has a Master’s degree in Human Nutrition and a PhD in Toxicology. Since 2001, he has worked on food safety enforcement, specializing in food supplements. In 2012, he joined the Ministry of Health to work on food and chemical product safety policy. Since 2018, his work has been dedicated exclusively to tobacco control. He has been Co-chair of the Global Tobacco Regulators Forum since 2022.
