Mila works to challenge the stigma and break the taboo surrounding cancer, fostering open and honest conversations, improving access to information, and advocating for a more inclusive and patient-centered healthcare system (particularly for adolescents and young adults). Having experienced the gaps in cancer care, where she wasn’t always seen, represented or supported, and where quality of life was rarely considered part of the care plan, she is deeply committed to ensuring that others don’t have to navigate the healthcare system alone. She believes that care should never stop at treatment, nor end with a diagnosis. Quality of life is just as important as clinical outcomes. Mila is currently part of the executive board member of Digestive Cancers Europe, and a Youth Ambassador at the Association of European Cancer Leagues.
