Professor Andrea Bianco is the Director of the Clinic of Respiratory Diseases “Vanvitelli of University of Campania Italy at Monaldi Hospital in Naples. He is the Director of the post-graduate Specializing school of Respirator diseases at University of Campania “Vanvitelli” Naples -Italy.

He qualified at University of Naples Federico II where he also gained PhD in Broncho-pneumology.

He has published over 300 papers on Airway epithelium/Inflammation/Immunity, Respiratory Viral Infections COPD and on Basic Translational and Clinical research in Lung Cancer.

He was awarded the Scientific Research Fellowship – ’96” of The European Respiratory Society.

He has been “Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher” “School of Postgraduate Medicine” Keele University/North Staffordshire Hospital Trust – United Kingdom and Visiting Research fellow at the Centre for Respiratory Research – University College London – London /United Kingdom

From 2018 to 2023 he held the position of President of Study Group Oncology of SIP/IRS (Italian Respiratory Society).

He is Member of the Academy of Medical and Surgery Sciences – Società di Scienze, Lettere, ed Arti Napies– Italy.

He is Lung Scientific Co-ordinator for Italian League of Cancer (LILT – Lega Italiana per la Lotta contro i Tumori).

His research is currently focusing on mechanisms of crosstalk between lung and other organs and on immune mechanisms underlying development of Lung Cancer in COPD patients.
