EFTHIMIOS ZERVAS
BIO
Prof. Efthimios Zervas is Full Professor at Hellenic Open University. He is Chemical Engineer of National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and holds a PhD from the Institut Francais du Petrole in France. He has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of energy, pollution, climate change, public environmental opinion, sustainability and tobacco products in both industrial (mainly in oil and automotive sector in France (TOTAL and Renault)) and academic (Ecole des Mines de Nantes, France, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece and Hellenic Open University, Greece) sectors.
He is currently Director of the MSc program “Environmental Design” and Director of the Laboratory of Technology and Policy of Energy and Environment (LATPEE) of HOU. He has more than 150 publications in Scopus and more than 3,600 citations, giving an H‐index of 31 and more than 330 presentations in national and international conferences. He is classified in the world top 2% of the Stanford/Elsevier classification of authors in the field of energy.
His work concerns modelling, experimental and theoretical research in the fields of energy, sustainability, pollution, environmental impacts, combustion emissions, public opinion about energy and environmental issues and tobacco products
In the specific field of tobacco, he was member of the first Joint Action on Tobacco Control, he was expert in Tobacco and Vaping Products of ANSES (FR), he participated in the evaluation of the industry reports of the 15 priority additives, and he is Chair of the EU Independent Advisory Panel on Characterising Tobacco Flavors. His research is mainly focused on the emissions of the conventional and the novel tobacco products.
