Josep Maria Borras is director of the Catalonian Cancer Strategy since 2006 and Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Barcelona (UAB). He is a graduate in Medicine (1981), holds a PhD in Epidemiology (UAB,1989) and a Master in Methodology of Health Sciences (UAB, 1988). From 1997 to 2006, he served as director of the Catalan Institute of Oncology. In 2008 he became the Scientific Coordinator of the Spanish Cancer Strategy for the Spanish Health Ministry. He has been involved in research projects on the determinants of utilization of cancer services, and in the application of epidemiology to cancer services planning and evaluation.
