Niels Them Kjær is tobacco control expert at the Danish Cancer Society and completed his PhD in Science in 1997.

After more than 25 years in tobacco control, he has worked with many aspects – especially with implementation of national standards for smoking cessation counselling in Denmark, implementation of the EU Tobacco Product Directive, the Danish Tobacco Endgame Project ‘Smokefree Future’ and the Danish Cancer Plan.

Niels Them Kjær has been a member of the board of the Danish Cancer Society and member of the board of the European Network for Smoking and Tobacco Prevention (ENSP).
